Meet Our Director
Chami Jayasinghe
Chami Jayasinghe is Sri Lankan born and arrived in Australia in 2007. Her love of teaching started in her home country. In Australia, Chami became Diploma-qualified and obtained Leadership and Management qualifications in Early Childhood Education. She has been a leading childcare professional in the Northern Territory for 17 years.
Chami has been involved in the building and design of Happy Trails ELC from the beginning. Since opening our doors in February 2022, her expertise has been paramount in Happy Trails becoming the successful, thriving service it is today, including its exciting new expansion in 2025. Chami’s goal is to establish trusting relationships among children, educators, families, and the community. She promotes free play, exploration, critical thinking, role modelling, and the development of mutual respect.

We are passionate about fostering connection, creativity, and wellbeing, helping every child grow with confidence, curiosity, and joy. With a strong focus on nutrition and our award-winning Kitchen and Gardening Program, we promote healthy eating, sustainability, and a lifelong love of learning.
