Happy Trails Early Learning Centre (ELC) opening in Muirhead (Northern Suburb of Darwin) will bring a fresh approach to early learning, drawing on the natural environment to inspire children to become discoverers and thinkers, preparing them for a life of learning and wellbeing.
Happy Trails ELC was named after the stunning environment of Lee Point, where many Territory families have long enjoyed adventures from bush to beach. This environmental focus will be carried through the centre, featuring an abundance of calming nature spaces and a Discovery Garden growing produce for our kitchen.
We believe our centre is an excellent choice for parents seeking exceptional early learning. Happy Trails ELC focuses on providing fun and enriching learning paths for all children, with an emergent curriculum inspired by the children, families and the local community. We are here to support families, develop positive relationships and deliver quality early learning to the Darwin community in a modern purpose-built establishment.
Our Background
Happy Trails ELC is supported by an experienced group of early childhood educators and business professionals. Director Chami Jayasinghe has been a leading Educator and Management professional in the Northern Territory for 14 years. “Happy Trails ELC is more than just a childcare,” says Mrs Jayasinghe. “My vision is to create an aesthetically inviting environment to optimise learning options for all the children. We will have substantial play space, educators and other resources underpinning our capability to deliver this.”
Award-winning Chef Annie Dugan is behind the Service’s Nutrition curriculum and is passionate about creating opportunities to awaken curiosity in children about food. “We believe healthy eating starts from the moment an infant begins to show an interest in food. We cook nutrient-rich meals that enhance and stimulate brain development and growth, “food for thought.”
Happy Trails ELC is committed to delivering high-quality care in a safe, nurturing and sustainable environment, helping to satisfy the growing population of families with young children in Darwin.

Daily rates are inclusive of:
- All nutritious daily meals, snacks, milk (other than formula)

- Access to parent portal so you can check your child’s daily learning experiences
- A dedicated pre-school classroom to provide a quality educational programme based on the NT Preschool Curriculum and guided by the Principles Practices and Learning Outcomes outlined in Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
